Gallery I – Resident Visual Artists Exhibits 2017
Featuring painting, fiber art, illustration, and other media from the studio artists at the Howard County Center for the Arts: James Adkins, Joan Bevelaqua, Myungsook Ryu Kim, Art Landerman, Diana Marta, Amanda Gordon Miller, Joyce Ritter, Jereme Scott, Andrei Trach, Jamie Travers, Mary Jo Tydlacka, Alice St. Germain-Gray, and David Zuccarini.
Gallery II – Zac Benson & Jason Hughes
This exhibit, featuring Zac Benson and Jason Hughes, explores how both artists incorporate reclaimed or appropriated materials in their work. Benson’s work relates his found materials’ intrinsic history to his own personal faith and his engagement with society. Hughes utilizes shredded currency to create textiles, collages, prints, and cast sculptures that examine the history of American economic power and its influence over cultural representation in the United States.
All County Improv
ACI was conceived by Pam Land, Sally Livingston (Howard County Arts Teachers) and professional actor Bruce Nelson. Now in its 8th year, ACI is under the direction of master improv artist Jamie Driskill. It is an audition-only advanced Improv comedy team comprising the best performers from every high school in Howard County. Groups of students meet regularly to prepare for annual performances at the Rouse Theatre and Howard Community College and for special events such as the Columbia Festival of the Arts.
