Stoop Storytelling

Stoop Storytelling Series: My Favorite Film

Friday, June 23, 8 pm | Smith Theatre at Howard Community College

Hear personal stories, told by the people who’ve lived them – not professional storytellers, just everyday folks with astounding tales to tell. My Favorite Film features stories of the unusual, scary, joyous, and astonishing – all true accounts of cinematic events and experiences. Stoop storytellers are writers, dog-walkers, scientists, poets, moms, manicurists, museum directors, waitresses, TV hosts, taxi drivers…and you!

The Stoop Storytelling Series is a popular event in the Baltimore area in which seven people get seven minutes each to tell a true, personal tale on a shared theme in front of a live audience. Since its founding in 2006, The Stoop has featured the stories of more than 1,000 people. These stories are now available on its website and podcast, and are frequently aired on local public radio station WYPR. Guided by the motto “Everyone has a story What’s yours?” The Stoop’s mission is to showcase the extraordinary stories of ordinary people. During each Stoop show, a few lucky audience members also get the chance to tell three-minute stories on stage.
